Featured Live Music Artist of the Week - Bob Blider
Bob Blider (aka Bo Blider sometimes) - also founding member of Beatles Tribute Band - American English and current member of Beatles Cover Band - B4 And After!
In addition to his work with past and current Beatles bands - Bob also does a solo show consisting of Beatles, Beatles Solo, and other music artists and genres including Blider originals!
Bob's solo routine consists of a combination of keyboards and acoustic guitar, which enables his set to encompass basically the entire catalog of Beatles and Beatles Solo songs - as well as other artists. And, naturally, as most solo artists do - Bob also sings.
The times I've seen Bob perform he has focused on Beatles music, and one time, on George Harrison's birthday week, George Harrison songs, with other Beatles/Beatles solo included. Bob's performance is not intrusive and he doesn't try to out-volume the room. His music is a perfect fit for the boutique bars, but also works just fine in the larger venues as well. A consummate professional, Bob takes his music seriously and takes great pride in delivering each song with the perfection that it has earned. Many solo artists tend to goof around in songs or forget words or not give the music the appreciate it deserves - this is NOT Bob Blider. Bob gives each song the respect it deserves and strives to recreate it in a manner deserving of the song. Simply put - Bob is a musician!
But, Bob is also a performer, Bob takes time between songs to give a little background of selected songs or artists. When appropriate, Bob might throw in a personal story related to the song or artist as well. He also takes requests, and solicits them from the crowd. There is no question that Bob wants his audience to have an enjoyable and memorable night out. Watching Bob perform is sort of like hanging out with that talented friend we all have, and just enjoying what he can do with music. Within a few songs, the audience feels as though Bob is a long-time friend and this is just a gathering of music-loving friends.......which I guess it really is, isn't it?
Bob is able to seamlessly move back and forth between keys and guitar and from artist to artist and era to era. It is apparent, that using his musical knowledge, he carefully plans his set list so that each song complements the previous song (or the next song) and the style flow together perfectly, much like a DJ does with their collection.
For those wanting to experience this live - Bob Blider will be performing at Amici's Taverna in Steger this Saturday (April 25) starting at 8:00. You can view more details at - https://www.facebook.com/events/1412461662395790/.
