Featured Live Music Artist of the Week - Bob "Mr. Puppet" Abdou
Ok, so this does count as "Music Artist" because music is involved and performance, comedy, and puppetry are part of the arts, and Bob is living, thus "live".
I have seen Bob Adbou's puppet show for at least 15 years now at the Chicago Fest For Beatles Fans. Sometimes I even see it twice the same weekend. "Puppets? Those are for kids". Well - yes AND no.
Most definitely for kids, Bob even reserves spots up front specifically for the kids. But, the show is NOT just for kids. Any adult with a sense of humor (and in this case a love for The Beatles) will enjoy these shows just as much as the kids do. Puppets are not just for kids!
Because the show is comedy based, I don't want to give too much away, but let's just say this isn't just a giant wall with puppets sticking out above it and a person hiding behind it. No sir.
This is actually a full multi-media, interactive, immersive performance of Puppets and more. At least one (usually more) audience members get to be part of the show - and always room for the kids. The show consists of Beatles and Beatles Solo music, puppets, marionettes, adults from the audience, kids from the audience, stand-up comedy, visual props, and lots and lots of laughs. We've seen "guest appearances" by Elvis and Michael Jackson (well, at least in spirit).
The shows I see usually last about 60 minutes, and I'm telling you the truth, if you are not laughing for at least 59 of those minutes, even if just a chuckle in parts, you obviously aren't paying attention. I reserve that one minute for a responsible public service announcement for the kids that Bob seamlessly includes into the show.
Bob also performs at the NY Fest For Beatles Fans - so if you are a Fest-goer, I highly recommend checking out one (or more) of his shows.
But even if you aren't a Fest-goer - he also books other shows as well.....http://www.mrpuppet.com/
