The Gift of Music

I posted this a few days ago on Facebook - as I was still riding The Fest For Beatles Fans High as well as the Rock The Night 5k adrenaline rush.

I guess it's really more of a blog post than a fb status - so here it is :

THANK YOU LORD FOR GIVING US THE GIFT OF MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!

I can't even come close to telling you how cool music is - but let me try

1) Last weekend at the Fest For Beatles Fans, MUSIC brought people together at the Hyatt O'Hare. People from many states, many social backgrounds, many religious and/or political beliefs, many economic levels, many you name its - and each year they all Come Together (did you catch that Fest friends) for 3 days of music and peace and harmony and love! I feel so safe at that event - these music lovers are all one - we are all the same! Nobody is going to steal, harm, or insult anybody. And what is the common denominator? MUSIC!! Yes MUSIC!!! I have made some of the best friends IN MY LIFE at this event! People I call Family, not friends.

2) Tonight, after the 5k, the concert. First, let me explain 5Ks, many people always give EVERYTHING they have on the run, they want to be their best, beat their personal best, nothing left on the table. We are all not record breaking runners, some us run 12 minute miles, but it takes everything we have to do it. We all give it everything we have. So, here thousands (literally thousands) of people just gave every ounce of their being to this race - it was HUMID HUMID HUMID - and people were exhausted. BUT, what did most of them do - walked straight to the front of the stage to see LIVE MUSIC!!! What does that say!?!!?!?!? People could go home, relax, passout - but NO - they went to the front of the stage and STOOD for 2 hours to watch LIVE MUSIC!!!!

3) Back in the early 90s, a great friend of mine and I went to see Ozzy at the Aragon Ballroom. General admission - we stood outside on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving to get good seats. It rained AND snowed that day. And we were there with THOUSANDS of the coolest people I've ever met!!! We bonded with everybody we met - EVERYBODY - security, fans, peddlers, you name it. We stood outside for almost 12 hours - and we weren't even in the first 100 people in line!!!!

MUSIC IS THE GREATEST GIFT EVER (after family and friends) - PERIOD END OF STORY - THE END!!!!
