Featured Live Music Artist of the Week - The Weeklings

They were introduced as at The Fest For Beatles Fans as a cross between The Kinks and The Rutles. Personally, I think a better description would be a cross between The Beatles and the Oneders (The Wonders) from "That Thing You Do".

Their harmonies are spot on - and they really do sound a lot like The Wonders in their harmony styles and vocal ranges, as well as the music itself. They obviously sound a lot like The Beatles as they take well-known Beatles tunes and create new words and arrangements, and deliver the songs "John and Paul might have written and we just haven't found them yet".

Clearly a tongue-in-cheek band, with names like Lefty (4 strings), Zeek (6 strings), Rocky (12 strings), and Ramblin' Dave (no strings), these guys aren't goof-offs - the music is professionally presented and their talent as musicians is very clear to see (umm hear). The band is so tight that one would almost think they have been around from when John and Paul might have written those songs.

Inside their "second first debut album" is the story of The Weeklings, which you'll have to buy to read. SPEAKING OF THAT - not only are The Weeklings available on CD - but also on ALBUM, that's right a 33 1/3, an LP, a Long Playing Record. Yep - true!!! And to that end, their second first debut album is recorded in glorious MONO!!!!

On stage they put on an amazing show - recreating some of the cleanest and most enjoyable harmonies on stage anywhere - right up there with The Oneders and yes, that other group, The Beatles. The stage show is both fun and funny with Lefty as the ring-leader - but they all get into the act - trust me!! Each member gets a shot at lead vocals as well. The Weeklings with that odd spelling of the word (reminiscent of some 60s band who spelled an insect wrong), are an act to see live!

Though the recorded music is impeccable, there are few things more enjoyable than watching a band pull off complex harmonies live on stage!

Keep your eyes and ears open for them, mostly based on the East Coast, they have been known to find a bus and travel as well.

(In real-life, the band consists of very talented and accomplished musicians who all have resumes to impress : Glen Burtnik, John Merjave, Bob Burger, and Dave Anthony. All of who are awesome people off-stage as well)
