A bunch of running thank yous

I seldom get personal on this blog - but this is something I want to say -

Ok - deep thoughts coming again - hang in there (or just skip right over - which is fine).
3 years ago I once told a few of my friends from the stock car racing community (who also are runners) - "The only way I'm running is if something is chasing me - or there is free beer to the first 50 people".

Since then, I've run a 5k nearly every weekend (seriously, like 40+ over the past 2 years, per year). I've run a 7k - and I've gotten into Trail Racing.

In 2016, I'm signed up for my first ever 10k, 8k, 15k, and Half-Marathon.
I didn't get here alone. I really - truly - deeply - want to thank all my running friends from stock car racing for getting me into this and supporting me, both at the races and away from them. You know who you are!!

I want to thank every member of the Kankakee River Running Club - so many of you have helped me in so many ways with talks before/after the races, at the banquets, over facebook, etc. Some who I don't talk to much, inspire me when I read about their accomplishments.

I want to thank people I met along the way, like the 80+ year old who encouraged me mid-5k on a 97 degree day as he passed me and then ran with me (and gave me advice after the race). To that self-described "old-guy" who was catching me with 1/4 mile to go who yelled "don't let this old guy beat you" and then ran with me - and then told me "now run faster and beat me, you can't let an old guy win".

To certain families, who I have met because of running, who are the very definition of the word "strength" and inspire so many people in so many ways.

To so many different race organizers who do so much - so much more than we can fathom - and to ALL THOSE VOLUNTEERS who make sure we have a safe and fun race.

To a certain athlete that I met through work, whose dedication to his sport (all-natural men's physique) is second-to-none and very inspiring!!

And to God, who has given me the physical ability and the determination to set goals and accomplish goals. "I can do all things through Christ, who gives me strength" : Philippians 4:13
