Featured Live Music Artist - Leroy Sanchez

Continuing with the Rock The Grid Festival theme - this week's Featured Live Music Artist is Leroy Sanchez.

Leroy Sanchez, born and raised in Spain, is now taking up residence in the United States and working with legendary music producer, Jim Jonsin, of Rebel Rock Entertainment.

I heard someone in the crowd explaining Leroy's sound on their cell phone (to someone I assume was on their way to Rock The Grid).  It was explained as fun, lively, acoustic pop.  Seems like a good description to go with.  The music is definitely acoustic, and most definitely fun and lively.  The songs all had a great rhythm to them, and even without knowing tunes, they were very easy to get into and to move to.

Leroy definitely had the female following - as young girls crowded the front rows screaming, almost like a second coming of The Beatles.  But, his music also entertained the male crowd as well, as was obvious by the dancing/moving and general enjoyment of the crowd.

Noticeable too was his ease at communicating with the crowd, participating in some crowd banter between most songs and telling stories.  He definitely connected with the crowd.

Accompanying Leroy on stage was his very solid guitar player, Corey Rupp, who should not go unnoticed in the success of Leroy's show.  For most songs, both Corey and Leroy played guitar, but sometimes Leroy sang and Corey played.  The bulk of the show was acoustic, but one of the last numbers, Corey plugged in, and they both rocked the crowd.

And, what always makes a live show fun - is when the performers themselves are having fun - and they definitely were.  Lots of energy on stage as both performers got into the songs!  They put a positive energy out into the crowd that continued through the night.

His song "By My Side" has an awesome video available at www.rebelrock.com
