Finishing up the review of the Rock The Grid Festival presented by Rebel Rock Entertainment, VP Racing Fuels, Continental Tires, and IMSA, is the DJ of the evening, DJ Shawty Slim.
So, we've reviewed the 4 artists, but not to be forgotten was a critical player from before Brad Tallman took the stage all the way through when B.o.B. left the stage - and that is DJ Shawty Slim.
The evening started with DJ Shawty Slim spinning some well known beats and mixing in some classic rock samples, including songs by CCR, which fit perfectly for the evening.
He got the crowd going and ready prior to the first act, and then was the main entertainment between each act all evening, keeping the fans hopping (literally at times). Instead of the energy dropping between acts, he kept the energy building and kept the energy high all night long. Complete interaction with the crowd, and knowing exactly what beats to play at what time to keep the crowd engaged between artists.
But that wasn't all, he laid down the beats for B.o.B. and Baby Bash during their sets, at times even spinning with producer/organizer Jim Jonsin himself, much to the delight of the crowd, the VIPs, and Jim!!!
Many times, the DJ between acts is sort of lost in the shuffle, but one of the keys to the success of this event was DJ Shawty Slim. He knew exactly how to keep the crowd engaged, how to build the energy and how to sustain the energy. And of course, how to lay down the tracks for the artists!!!
