Witchcross - The Featured Live Music Artist of the Week

Just in time for the best holiday of the year - Halloween..................we bring you Witchcross as the featured live music artist of the week.

Witchcross is a Doom Metal band based in Chicagoland who puts on a great stage show to go along with some kickass original metal!!

The band is led by vocalist Count William and consists of a bass guitar, lead guitar, and drums.  No frills heavy metal.  Not to stereotype, but it's like an Occult leader and his motorcycle gang followers - and I mean that in a good way!!!!  Their stage presence, in itself, shouts "tough, no holds barred, in your face, heavy freaking metal!".

It's like a combination of King Diamond/Mercyful Fate, Black Sabbath/Ozzy, Dio, Black Label Society, Slayer, Judas Priest and (early) Metallica combined into one cohesive unit - but with a sound all their own.  They don't sound like any one of those bands, they sound like a band with those awesome influences, but their sound is 100% Witchcross!!

Musically, the first thing I noticed, and honestly was not expecting, was the soaring high octave (and high octane) vocals.  I wasn't sure what to expect, but the first song opened with immediate vocals and they were right up there with King Diamond's high-end register!  Definitely a "hey - pay attention" sound!  Then the rest of the music hit me - and it does hit you.  It's powerful, it has a force behind it.  It's hard to believe that two guitars can generate such a room-filling sound.  It's the kind of heavy metal that you FEEL in your bones, whether you like it or not!  It's heavy metal as heavy metal should be!  Speaking of feeling it - trust me when I say those drum skins and cymbals felt every beat as well, that drummer bangs on the drums like few others.  There is a power and meaning behind every beat!

Watching the band play, they make it look effortless, knocking off rifs and grooves like it is second nature, like the guitars are just an extension of their arms.  The singer captivates the audience and is quite intense - he isn't just reciting words - he is living the lyrics - living the song - right there on stage and with 100% of his very being.  This band is captivating!!

On top of the music is an excellent stage vibe, complete with candles, crosses, castle/dungeon backdrops, and other dark trinkets.  All of this completes the mood and the doom metal is free to breathe and live in it's fullest power.

This band's music is awesome, and certainly worth purchasing on CD, but at the same time, you don't want to miss seeing them live either.  Their current CD is Crypt Of The Undead and is available at the shows and through their webpage (witchcross.com).   Buy the CD, but make sure you see them live as well!!!

For those who grew up with King Diamond/Mercyful Fate or Dio or Ozzy or BLS - you'll want to make sure you check these guys out live as well!!!

All songs performed and on the CD are written by the members of the band - all originals.  Not only are these guys talented with their instruments/voices - but they are also top notch writers!!!
